🍀Can anyone help me with the meaning of this lyrics from Long Live by Taylor Swift?
**Hold on to spinning around**
Confetti falls to the ground
May these memories break our fall
and im having trouble understanding the first line. Is it “hold on (to this moment where) we spin around, (cause if you dont hold on to it, you’ll lose this moment cause time flies)”? Or is it “hold on, in order to keep spinning around like how we’re right now?”
I know there could be many translations to the lyrics, but I just wondered how that line would sound like to most natives’ ears. And my question is about the literal meaning of the line itself, not the hidden meaning, cause it seems grammatically wrong and that’s why it’s hard to understand.
(I read online that first line also is a reference to her unreleased song, “spinning around”, if it helps.)
Thank you in advance!

I think I would understand it more as the second meaning, but I think it contains both meanings.

I think it means that you should never stop being a child. Children spin on a meri-go round. They throw confetti. Never loose the innocence of being a child.
