In my lesson 钟 was introduced, so I used it for the following sentences: 我想下午六点钟去银行。 银行几点钟开门？ 我们十点钟吃牛肉， 好吗？ 你想几点钟去咖啡馆？ 咖啡馆晚上十点钟开门。 But in the key to the exercises the 钟 was omitted in all of them. Is it still okay to use this word or is it a mistake? Is there a general rule, when to use 钟？ 谢谢

Is there a general rule, when to use 钟？ 谢谢It’s not necessary to say钟 and we say 下午六点 not 十八点 we say 晚上十点吃肉 we must mention clearly the 早上and 晚上to make them clearly no misunderstanding

I suppose that it's always appropriate to omit this word when trying to mention the time. Actually, the sentence sounds more natural without it and no counterexample has occurred to me yet. example： 请问现在几点了？ 现在下午四点了（=十六点）。 哦天哪，银行五点就要关门，我得赶快过去。 If the character “钟”is added in the conversation above, it will be a little bit verbose.
