“/“ is the symbol called stroke in British English ? As far as I know, people typically say it with “ slash” instead. Please correct me if I am wrong.

In British English, this is called a slash or a forward slash. \ is a backslash.

I’m not sure about British English, but in America we do call that a slash, and to be more presice because of the Internet “/“ is a “forward slash” and “\” is a backward slash
