I can answer you, because i passed the situation ,to be honest I am in the middle of the process. I started here on itlaki learning English for almost 7 month ago and when I started i couldn’t say like a simple sentence ā€œi started learning Englishā€. I need to say that I knew the grammar when I started because In my school they emphasize in the grammar like in all schools and university’s over the wourld. This is the may problem i believe, but i couldn’t speak anything. When I chose my first teacher I told her that I wanted to have conversation and NOTHING of grammar because the grammar was the problem that i didn’t know how to speak, because in my school emphasized only on this point. I can assure you that I studied and I am studying too hard every day (now I stopped because I am taking vacations) and I had days that I did 6 lessons per day. My method is talk to my teacher and commit a lot of mistakes, it doesn’t matter. I know that the books and movies it’s very important , actually i started reading Harry Potter because i read before in Spanish and I think it’s a good way to expand my vocabulary. Also watched breaking bad in English with subtitles in Spanish , to practice my ear. Those tools are very important but the most tool that you need to practice and it’s the only that will help you the most it’s the CONVERSATION. I hope this answer will be useful for you! This is my experience until now, but it doesn’t finish because I am continue learning! Joseph Sutton

If you read articles you can read, can't speak and understand what someone talks. If you watch series you can understand people but you can't speak and read. If you talk a lot you can talk but can't write and read. So, there is the only way to learn language completely. You have to make it surround you by reading, speaking and writing :) That's my opinion.

I like watching videos with subtitles wearing my headphones and trying to repeat some sentences. Psychologically, you can use most of your senses this way (you can write down some words too) :)

I like all of them, but I find listening to songs and reading lyrics (especially in the same time) the best, because you can quickly remember vocabulary and you know how to use them in the context. Changing the language's phone is also good to gain new words, but it's better to do this when you already know some words, because at first it can be too difficult. Books, movies and series- amazing! With books you can learn a lot of words, and in movies&series is used a real, every day language.😊
