Does the usage of “as … as” in the sentence: “As sad as that might sound, I hope ...” same as the below example? Example: I am as hungry as a wolf. I am hungry like a wolf. If not, could you provide some examples of the former usage please? Thank you. 🙏🏻

'as...as' is how we can compare things. I am as hungry as a wolf now. As sad as that might sound, I hope. That is very sad, and I hope... (my hope is the same quantity as your sadness). As fast as the fox was, he couldn't catch the rabbit. As quick as a flash, it happened.
