Hiii.. I'm so confused by this, I'm not even sure how to word the question. Can someone help me with when to use 'al' I understand using al as a contraction like "to the" but I've seen it used in sentences that I can't understand. For example, quiero jugar futbol todos los dias o quiero jugar al futbol todos los dias. I understand the 2nd one is correct but I have no idea why. I have the same problem with using de after despues or antes. Sometimes, I've seen despues de and sometimes despues del.. i'm not sure what I'm missing if someone can help me! :)

Ambas son correctas, pero aveces depende del pais, por ejemplo en México decimos "quiero jugar fútbol todos los días, mientras que la segunda opción la he escuchado más en Argentina

Well, as you probably know "del" is a contraction for "de el" and "al" for "a el" both of the examples you gave for both words are correct, the reason is that sometimes (like your examples) these words are completely optional, they don't add any meaning to the sentence, they just basically specify a bit more which is usually unnecessary

Hi ! both sentences are good. You can say: Quiero jugar fútbol todos los días and Quiero jugar al fútbol todos los días. "Al" is a contraction in singular, for example: Instead of saying: Vamos a el cine, it´s better to say: Vamos al cine. Other examples: Vamos al parque a caminar, vamos al centro, vamos al restaurante.
