I live in a city called South Tangerang. It's one of bordering cities of Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. Having born and raised here, I have been witnessing how my hometown has changed over time. Apparently, some areas are much more developed than the rest of them. This is, unfortunately, partly caused by the gentrification in some residential areas. The most well developed districts were not the work results of the local government, but the private developers'. They have built premium residential areas, sophisticated malls, science park, expensive private schools, private hospitals, and fixed the pedestrian access around some train stations. Sadly, the other districts have been left untouched and the government seems to have done nothing to improve the public facilities there. Our public transportation system also causes us headache sometimes, plus the roads have become more and more congested during the peak hours. My hometown is seriously in need of great leaders who actually care about the quality of life of the citizens.
