On the fourth day, we left our hotel at 7:00 am. We first drove about 300km to
reach Cape Soya. Cape Soya is the northernmost point of Hokkaido , and therefore also for Japan. About 30 kilometers from the Wakkanai area, the cape is a popular stop for bikers and tourists and it has a few key monuments, gift shops, a windmill, and a lighthouse. If the weather is good you can see Sakhalin, a Russian island once part of Japan, from the lookout point. We arrived there at 1:00 pm. It was windy and howling. I couldn’t see Sakhalin at all. Therefore, I was very disappointed. My lunch was seafood rice bowl with crab and scallops. They were fresh and delicious. I was happy eating it. After our lunch, we drove about 300 km to check into the hotel in Asahikawa city . We arrived there at 8:00 pm. It was truly a busy and enjoyable day.
