Perhaps you don't want to admit it( This stereotype may not necessarily negative, it may be positiv) it‘s a truth that a lot of people have their own stereotypes. Sometimes people are not going to discuss this stereotype is in order to avoid unnecessary disputes, or to avoid unnecessary harm, I totally understand that, but sometimes i also wondering if it also a way to kill the opportunities to know the truth, result in the spreading of this stereotype. So why not share and listen to the views of others? There are so many friends from all over the world on italki, maybe you will get the answer you can never imagine.
Differences and being tolerant are one thing. You can not live in NY and not rub shoulders every day of your life with folks with different colors, nationalities, religions, education levels, money, professions, etc, it is impossible, NY is one giant pot and everybody from everywhere is in that pot.
However where I personally draw the line about respecting and tolerating cultural differences and obviously I would not visit or live anyplace that pushed my buttons too heavily, is the treatment and abuse/lack of opportunities for women, the treatment of children, child prostitution ( no matter who the customer is - they are all dirtbags to me, any man from wherever who wants to pay to have sex with an 8 year old is not the place for me ), honor killings, heavily biased court systems.

Go to any 3rd world country that isn't 'westernized' and expect to be greeted with open arms in a diverse cultural environment that has love for cultural diversity...and you will be in for a sad awakening. The reality is, anywhere you go--there will always be honest, good, non-judgmental, non-racist, respectful people (as well as the antithesis of this). Some places many less than others. The best way to approach wherever you go is to understand the culture (or at least a willingness to learn), the ability to refrain your judgment of the people there despite what you were taught was acceptable and unacceptable where you came from, the ability to tolerate injustices against you simply because of your race or culture, and finally--how you view the half filled (or empty) cup.
Cultures and people groups tend to find bitterness with others because unreasonable expectations of how the others should be towards one another (and it is never one-sided). If you plan on living in some place other than your home country, you must learn to adjust your world view...because unless you have the flexibility to do this, you won't make it well in another country with people who come from a different perspective and culture than you do. And remember--you're on their turf. You'll have to adjust to their land and way of life...not the other way around.
Yes, I do have stereotypes. But also because I realized I have stereotypes for things , I try not to judge things or others easily.
