How do/did you learn your SAT words?

Have you studied /are you currently studying SAT words? Did you use flashcards? Besides using flashcards with mnemonic devices to expand your vocabulary, what else did/do you do to retain the newly acquired words? I’ve heard one good way to truly grasp the new words is to read them in books; the context in which the words appear can help learners internalize them better. Are there types of writing/publications that are typically filled with SAT words? Any tips that work/worked for you?

I am lucky indeed! I will definitely try reading these books at sparknotes. The technique using Google News to search for vocabulary usages is also a great tip that I have never thought of before. Thank you so much overbyen!

You're in luck! There are actually novels designed specifically for studying SAT words. I have never read them, but when I was in high school, I sometimes saw classmates with those books around.

You can read several of them for free here:

If you don't like reading online and want a physical book that you can hold, you can search "SAT novel" on sites like Amazon. There are a whole lot of them.

Another technique that you can try is searching for a word you just learned on Google News. News articles have a lot of SAT words in them and can help you understand how these words are actually used in real life.
