成语的 religions  can be divided into several classes, such as1 the abbreviation of fable2,in terms of historical events3,the application of words in ancient books idioms4 in past dynasties slang  5 new idioms....but actually chinese dont have their "favorite"idiom, because idioms used in the proper place can let a person feel shine at the moment..

And in the first category,拔苗助长 i will recommend to you  ,for example:if someone do something want to take shortcuts but it doesnt work ,you can persuade him 你不能拔苗助长,要脚踏实地...

In the second one ,my favorite this moment is 掷果盈车,the literal meaning is trow fruit company car... but it has a funny story in it (you can google it or connect me)and then it used to describe someone very charming(talented or handsome)

in the third one ,i will recommend you辗转反侧,it is from a china's charming  classic  called 诗经,the majority has red this poetry, this poetry tell a story about a boy unrequited love in a euphemism way...(the poetry is very very beautiful...)and  this idiom means youcant sleep (to think anything )nowadays...

and the last two you can find more if you feel ineresting...

一石二鸟只不过是个英译汉的词语而矣,算不得成语,事实上现在把许多词组都看成是成语了,其实它们不是,只不过是四字词组罢了。比如“七手八脚”最多算个俗语。
