If there were no adults, we could eradicate it.

I'm always hopeful things can be done, but I'm realistic. Before we ask government and the media to do anything, we have to look at ourselves. I see where Englishgeek is coming from.

I'm not afraid of those that are outwardly racist(I've met some nice ones...lol!).  I'm afraid of the secret ones in positions of influence and power.

No. It can't be eradicated. I think the most people are racists to some degree. They just don't want to admit it.

The first step would be having adults try to actually look at a person as a person. We have more in common than we have different, yet people seem to believe that they are better than another. Children see other children as just that, another child that they can play with. We see other races as better or worse than ourselves.

We put a great deal of stock in the media, and assume that the journalist takes a neutral stand on issues, but that has never been true. We know logically that what we are being told cannot be true, yet we believe it without question. We enjoy making fun of another race or culture because we feel it isn't harmless, yet we become angry when it happens to us. Why?

If you want to rid adults from racism, get rid of the media or at least teach the public that it is only entertainment that lacks truth and neutrality.
