Stephen King might be a bit hard to swallow for a beginner. Like Vanelli said though, it depends on your level of English, Harry Potter is a great choice, Rowling has a very easy to read writing style, probably because originally it was conceived as a children's book. Nevertheless the entire series is great, I read all 7 of them in like nine days :D.
One suggestion I have for beginners of a language is to try reading comics or manga instead. All the text will be in the first person, either dialogue or internal monologue, unlike novels which for the most part are written in the 3rd person. The constant dialogue in manga, will feel more like a normal conversation and the drawings will help out by providing context to stuff you may not understand yet.
The key though is, picking out a book or manga that would be interesting to you and you'd want to finish. Even in your own language, picking out a boring book would make you want to throw it out the window, without the added trouble of a new language.

Depende en el tipo de libros te gusta y su nivel de ingles. Me
gusta imagenes en mi libros cuando estoy aprendiendo una idioma asi empezado con los libros por Dr.Seuss como yo era un niñito de nuevo. jaja. :) Pero cuando se inicia desarrollando un comprension de la idioma, podrias mover a libros mas grande y mas complicado, tal vez tratas libros has leido antes. Esa manera es mas facil comprender.
Pero haria recomendar libros por Stephen King. Estan siempre muy bueno. "Twilight" parece ser muy popular tambien. "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".Estoy liendo esa en espanol ahora. jaja. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" es un otro serie interesante. Y tratas "The Darker Shade of Magic" and "The Final Empire."
