I need help on ways I can learn Spanish through self study. I want to learn Spanish and i have the time just not the resources or money l. so I need tips and tools that can help me learn Spanish with self study like recommended books, where and how to start teaching myself. If I could get some help that would be greatly appreciated.

I started out learning Spanish through self study using online resources.  If you can afford to buy one book, I would suggest ¨The Telenovela Method:  How to Learn Spanish Online¨ by Andrew Tracy.  This book gives many, many free sites to use.  It also has a chapter on techniques to use for language exchanges on sites like italki.com.  Since you are a native speaker of English, it should not be difficult for you to find native Spanish speakers who would like to teach you Spanish in exchange for you helping them with English.  Since you are a beginning I would highly recommend reading his book before you do language exchanges so that you can understand the process and have confidence because you will need to be doing exchanges with Spanish speakers whose English will be much better than your Spanish.  Many native Spanish speakers with intermediate or advanced English skills enjoy helping beginners in Spanish as long as you are helpful to them with things such as how to pronounce words in English.

Other resources that are not in the book that I think are good:

Michel Thomas´ Spanish lessons.  The first several of these have YouTube videos.  Search for the term:  Michel Thomas Spanish   in YouTube.

Duolingo.com is an app that can teach you Spanish as well.

I took the online course at fluencia.com.  It is not free but it is very good and I only paid about $9.95 per month.  I finished the course in 3 months and it gave me the basic understanding of grammar. When Spanish speakers do language exchanges with you many will not be experts in explaining grammar.  Although you will not be very conversational after finishing this course, you will have the basic understanding of grammar so that your Spanish speaking partners will not have to explain much grammar to you.  Instead they can help you get more fluent and learn more vocabulary.

You need to listen, read and speak everyday for 2+ hours. That's how I learned English. You also need motivation and patience.

Start by listening to podcasts for beginners, that way you get used to the sound of the language.

These 3 sites have free audio podcasts that you can download and listen to on the go.
