That nasty, annoying, troublesome, awkward, confusing, wonderful, useful prepostion "to" or not...

The preposition 'to' is used in approximately 15 different ways - 15 different uses/purposes.

Sometimes, the preposition 'to' can be confused with the 'to' used in infinitive verbs.

Look at the sentences below and determine if the 'to' is the preposition or part of the infinitive verb.

Very tricky this "to" word. Especially when it comes to the phrasal verbs. I mess it all the time with "for" and "on"...

Thanks, Richard! I appreciate that coming from you. By the way, I can think of no better way to explain things than you have done with perfectly chosen or invented examples. It is not at all easy.

PS the 'to to...' was hardly original. It was modified from a tacky joke (I have a dustbin brain for these)... Why don't owls make love in the rain? Because it is too wet to woo.
