Language Acquisition According to Innateness Hypothesis
According to Chomsky, the child is born with a blueprint in his brain. This faculty is called Language Acquisition Device "LAD". Thus, Human beings are genetically pre-programmed to acquire a language even before they are exposed to (the) language. In fact, there are three main characteristics of LAD. First, LAD is species specific; only human beings are endowed with this faculty while other species are not. Second, *LAD will never help with learning math or biology*, it specific for acquiring language only. Third, it pre-structures the language properties in the brain such as the Universal Grammar "UG", *this property does not refer to a grammar book but to the grammar in the brain*. Furthermore, the child is exposed to language experience due to Primary Linguistic Data "PLD". This PLD triggers the LAD with the first exposure. Therefore, LAD would never operate without Linguistic exposure.
