I've been wondering what being Japanese is like.
Sometimes it's hard for us to look at my own home ground objectively because we've totally got soaked in our culture and brainwashed.
So it would be so wonderful if you tell your impressions about it.
I have never been to Japan but it is in my bucket list. :)
During the WWII, I think some other countries didn't really have good impression about Japan including my country the Philippines. However, as times goes by Japan/Japanese people proved themselves to the world. Now, when I hear about Japan or Japanese people I can only think of good things. Very safe and clean country. Advanced and high quality technology. Polite, hard working, disciplined and respectful people. Oh, and the food...so delicious and healthy.
If you guys have a chance to visit Japan, just let me guide you around here!
In my opinion, What makes Japan different is...our strong desire to make a good relationship with people around.
Thinking it positively, the cleanliness or politeness of people is due to this idea. It makes us behave like neighbors do, rather than being different than others and outstanding.
Thinking it negatively, our society is not good at creating sth completely new because we like to be like others lol. We are likely to be behave follwing the invisible "average" style.
Of course, there are more and more people trying to be the only one.
Harmonizing is the key to understand Japan.
