Aaaaaah! indeed.

I also began struggling with this problem! My solution was to start writing every week in the language; it was almost like journaling every week. Doing this forces you to search for the words, phrases, and grammar rules you may have forgotten with time when you hit something you are unable to express! I've found there is a notebook feature on this website. I recommend writing about some topic that interests you here and native speakers will correct your entry for you! Just be sure to help correct others who are learning languages you are comfortable with to pay it forward!

Hi, Simon!

I recommend you "La soledad de America Latina". It was the speech of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a colombian writer, when he received the Nobel Prize. He talks about the occidental perception about South America.

Other ideas can be: reading interviews about artists, politicians, journalists, from native spanish speakers. Or reading articles about your topics of interest o about your occupation.
