Are we too late to save ourselves?

In this fossil fuel dependent world we now live in, do you think it is too late to save ourselves from near future extinction?

In order to bring the co2 levels down to within range to give us a chance, everything we know about our lives and daily routines would have to dramatically change in such a short amount of time that it is difficult to comprehend how we would even go about doing it.... Where would we start?

So many peoples lives are so busy with working to support their family in the dying world we've created, such a change would need the majority of the population to each make a major change which costs money, and that in turn feeds the very cycle we would need to break.

Some people believe the big mining companies hold the key, others believe it's already too late. What do you think?

I do believe human beings are changing the manner of life to eliminate the Independence upon fossil fuels as you may see many and more people are using solar power to support their everyday needs for electricity. Windmill can hopefully become a potential resource of power in the near future so I do not worry people would consume more fossil fuels at a cost of high pollution.

I think we are going to be just fine, as long as we use common sense, i.e. don't waste resources and don't abuse the environment. I am not worried at all.

I think one of the methods of rescuing the fossil fuels from being used up is to recycling the polymers (PE, PP, PS, and so forth). You know polymers derive from fuels so we can use less fuels by recycling polymers to theirir monomers to create new polymers or other useful petrochemical materials.
