My name is Tom and I am doing the Spanish Language Hacking Mission on here. I'm getting very discouraged because no one communicates with me. No one has responded to my videos and no one wants to be language exchange partners when I try to add them to my profile. This is not a community and there is no point in doing this if no one communicates with me. I'm posting a link to my first mission video and if no one responds or wants to ignore me, I quit

The Language Hacking section isn't very popular. The majority of people aren't watching any videos there. There are many native Spanish speakers looking for native English speakers as exchange partners. Browse through the forum here and you'll find plenty of them.

and so on and on

You could also start correcting English notebook entries by Spanish users or giving feedback on English videos by Spanish users. This way, I found one of my Spanish exchange partners.

Hi Tom. I am a native speaker from Mexico. I am looking for a language exchange. Maybe for Skype. I am free in the evenings. Send me a message if you are interested

Hey Tom!

Stick with it.

Numerous people post on Italki wanting native speakers to converse with them.

In the last four days alone, I've responded to 13 different posts. I tell them I'm a native English speaker from the U.S., here's my Skype address, contact me and let's talk about anything- I don't care about your level! I'm not even looking for a language exchange at this moment- so they would get 100% of my time in English. That's still not enough to motivate them (BTW- I'm super friendly and have no issues connecting with people in the real world!).

I haven't had one answer!

After probably 35-40 of these , "here I am, let's talk" contacts over the course of about 6 months, I have connected with a couple people. and they are becoming friends. I do it to meet new people.

You will eventually find someone who wants to connect, and when you find the right person, it will be well worth your efforts! Maybe skip the language hacking section for now?

Best of luck.

See ya!
