So, do you mean that I should start with some kind of phrasebook? 

I think that no matter what language you wanna learn you always start with the same things. Basic stuff to introduce yourself, some common questions... step by step you will be learning new verbs (in Spanish, French, Italian this part is quite different to English so it will take you longer) and continue learning new vocabulary. Spanish is really easy in terms of pronunciation so don't be afraid with that. 

I guess that some Spanish teacher could recommend you books.
