Why Are Italian Accents So Pleasant To Listen to?

Over the weekend, my family went out to dinner for Mother's Day at a restaurant in Hatfield, Massachusetts called Fish Tales. It is a seafood restaurant. Anyhow, one of the waitresses was Italian-American and she had kind of a strong Italian / New York accent to her, but not an overbearing accent. I didn't ask her but I am guessing that her parents may be from Italy or perhaps her grandparents were. Of course, she could just be from New York, but a lot of Italians do live in New York. In any case, I just really find that accent to be sooooo nice sounding whether it is from a guy or a girl. It just has a ton of character to it.
