I don't agree, because human beings have always been violent. If you look at human history I think in the past people were even more violent than today. Some psychologists even believe that it is good to play those games because it lets you "release" your aggression in a safe and healthy way without actually hurting another person. What do you think?

They are not more anti-social and/or mind-numbing than television.

I think games are good, because gamers hone a wide range of skills: observation, speed of reaction, inquiring, comparison, combination, quick thinking, an eye for detail...and, yes, social skills also (game cons, meetings, expositions etc)

Of course, overdoing it is bad for the mind, health and social life. Playing a couple of games is a fine pastime, playing for days on end is a serious addiction.

About violence: games contain much less gore and violence than some holy texts or mainstream TV dramas.

I agree with you Ruthi, I think that in the past societies were more violent than nowadays, because of today we create new rules to afford the problem of the violence (e.g. give rights to all the people).

But, on the other hand I´m not sure about if play violent computer games are a good point or not...and I played a lot when I was younger!!!

mindless nerds?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerd
Nerd (adjective: nerdy) is a descriptive term, often used pejoratively, indicating that a person is overly intellectual, obsessive, or socially impaired. They may spend inordinate amounts of time on unpopular, obscure, or non-mainstream activities, which are generally either highly technical or relating to topics of fiction or fantasy, to the exclusion of more mainstream activities.[1][2][3] Additionally, many nerds are described as being shy, quirky, and unattractive,[4] and may have difficulty participating in, or even following, sports. Though originally derogatory, "Nerd" is a stereotypical term, but as with other pejoratives, it has been reclaimed and redefined by some as a term of pride and group identity.
