What does 'gross' mean? Revenue? In this case 'dollars'?
At a smoothie shop in the US:
CEO: Monday through Thursday, how busy are you?
Franchisee: We're doing about 1,200 gross. Friday we're doing, like, about 3,400.
Gross means money earned before taxes are taken out. So the gross amount isn’t what a company gets to keep. Money the company keeps (i.e., after taxes are deducted) is referred to as “net.”

Gross means total income. Not only before taxes, but before ALL expenses (employee salaries, rent, supplies, etc.) are taken out.
