Hi, would you please help me understand the difference between "pollution" and "pollutant"?
For example why in this sentence I can't write "pollution"? "Modern industry has caused damage to our natural environment. The air and water are filled with *pollutants*"

Pollutant is a substance that makes pollution. In other words, pollution is the effect of a pollutant!

Pollution is a general word, and pollutant means something exact, for a example “carbon dioxide is an air pollutant” or “plastic is a pollutant”.

Pollution is the introduction of a harmful substance which has harmful effects into the environment.
Pullutants is a substance that pollutes something especially water or the atmosphere

چون pollution یعنی آلودگی یا همون آلایندگی و یه لغت کلی هستش. اما pollutants یعنی آلاینده ها(مواد آلوده کننده) و اگه قراره در ادامه ی مطلبتون از چند ماده ی خاص نام ببرید، باید از آلاینده استفاده کنید. جمله تون با pollutants اینجوری میشه که آب و هوا مملو از مواد آلاینده ست و این جمله علمی تر از اینه که بخواید مثل جملات روزمره بگید آب و هوا پر از آلودگی ست.
