Hi there!
In English there’s a word “ringleader” which refers to a person who is a leader of some sort of group who are doing something illegal, bad or harmful. But is there a word to describe a person who encourages people to do some crazy funny stuff, or a person who is super active among their peers and always ready to be involved in some funny activity? They tend to be real live wires.
In Russian we call such a person “zavodila”.

I think you’re right that “ringleader” generally does have negative connotations, but I would say that it can also be used in the case you’re describing. I can’t really think of a better alternative off the top of my head.
“He was their ringleader, always encouraging everyone to have fun and be adventurous.”
