A nice example of the difference is that you keep milk in the fridge and ice cream in the freezer.

Your question is perfect. Here a fridge usually has both a refrigerator and a freezer, but colloquially we say ‘fridge’, rather than ‘refrigerator-freezer’. ‘Freezer’ would refer to a stand-alone freezer or the colder part of the refrigerator-freezer. I have a freezer in my basement. (Stand-alone) I need a new fridge. My freezer died. (I need to replace my refrigerator- freezer because the freezer part is broken)

Hello Susanna, i would like to correct your question formation. Instead of using "Are" you should use "is". The correct formation is "is fridge and freezer are same?". Coming to the answer, No they are not same , the main difference is the Temperature. A freezer is always kept at zero degree fahrenheit to keep food at safe temperature. But fridge temperature varies according to our preferences.

Hi Susanna, no thy are not the same thing. A fridge keeps food and drink cold/chilled, whereas a freezer keeps things frozen. Thanks Colette
