A cable goes from the communications company to a box by a road ‘the cabinet’, which serves local houses. I suppose the closer your house is to the cabinet, the faster your connection is.

Hi Cessica, the acronym FTTC stands for fiber from the central to the cabinet (and connecting the last mile from cabinet to home with the classic twisted pair), while FTTH stands for fiber to the home. They are 2 different fiber optic connections.
