My three-year-old son poured water into a tube and didn't see that it came out of the other side. 1. The water goes in one side and comes out OF the other. 2. The water goes in ON one side and comes out ON the other. I used the first one, but wasn't sure if it sounded natural. How would you say it? Thank you. :)

#1 is correct, but if I said that sentence I would probably say "The water goes in one side and comes out the other." Dropping the "of" sounds very natural to me in speech, however in writing I would probably include it.
