Hi I have bought many movies on DVD, but for the vast majority the spoken german and the subtitles are a pretty poor match. They must have different teams working on them. However with the German version of Harry Potter DVD Prisoner of Askaban (from 'www.jpc.de'), the spoken german and the subtitles although not an exact match are pretty close. I have also got season 1of "Hinterm Mond gleich links" from ebay.de I've only started watching it but the german and subtitles seem pretty close too. Both of these DVDs come in english as well which is helpful. If you're into documentaries you can always try the Terra X series most come with subtitles for the hearing impaired. These are in german only though.

Hey I 've found this www.reddit.com/r/easy_german. They try to index every free online video with german audio and german/english subtitles. You might want to check what they have found already. There is a lot of good content there

Google for "german subtitles" and you'll find quite a few sites where you can download German subtitles for various movies as a seperate file. That may or may not be legal in your country, I don't know. Ask a lawyer if you really want to be sure. Many video player programs can combine any video source (e.g. a DVD) with this subtitle file, even if the DVD itself hasn't German subtitles. So any video source with a German audio track is fine. Nearly all foreign movies are dubbed in Germany, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a movie with German audio somewhere.

The only DVDs that I have seen with German subtitles are both of Rammstein's live concert DVDs and the British Comedy "Fawlty Towers". I would certainly highly recommend the latter, as John Cleese is just brilliantly hilarious and timeless.
