Their first name.. 95% of the time. "idiot" the rest of the time. I think it's more common in England and Australia to say darling and honey.

Some Australian men say : This is [ name] my wife or the old lady when they are introducing their spouse to others. Between themselves they call each other a variety of nicknames. You get a good idea of them when you read the annual Valentine's greetings in the newspapers. I have seen: snookums, pooh bear, cuddles, cutie pie, care bear etc.

Steve's list is good. You never get to hear what other people call their spouses, so it's hard to say what is most common. I think a lot of times spouses have special nicknames for each other and so it totally varies from person to person. I had a friend in high school whose dad called his wife "Moose." I guess it was affectionate but it sounded so strange. I have to say that whenever I hear someone call their spouse "honey" or "sweetie" it always sounds like they are angry with them. I've never called anyone "honey," "sweetie," or "darling” personally. I'm curious, what do people say in Chinese?
