I was upset one day and Ms. Corine wrapped her arm around my waist . I still don't understand why she did such a thing ? Was this a friendly gesture ?

The phrase "Put your arm around me" means to place your arm around someone as in a hug or to help support them as in inebriated, sick or elderly.
