What is 'rivet tones'? All the other frogs croaked in their deep “rivet” tones, and there he was croaking and croaking and croaking like a soprano. What is 'rivet tones'? I guess it might be something lower tones, but where the 'rivet' come from?

We commonly refer to the sound that a frog makes as a 'ribbit.. I haven't heard it referred to as a 'rivet'. A rived is something that joins two pieces of metal usually but some brands of jeans also have metal rivets. So 'ribbit' tones would be different tones that the frog makes with his voice.
