A little question I know the meaning of wagon, and the meaning of station wagon. What I don't understand is why it is called station wagon and what the means of station here. Who can help me explaining this?

A station is a large sheep or cattle farm in Australia. Since "station wagon" is Australian in origin, I assume the term refers to a large automobile used in the service of the station.
