Diamond, thank you for the question.
The proverb is a motivational one.
It means that even the most seemingly difficult of achievements, began with something small and highly possible.
Our psychological programming will determine if we succeed or fail in anything, but as another proverb says, "If you don't try, you're guaranteed to fail".
Imagine wanting to look at the stunningly beautiful, panoramic views from a mountaintop, it could be something you would like to do, take photographs of the clouds which seem endless in the beautiful blue sky, you would feel privileged to witness the awesome beauty of God's work.
But you're standing at the bottom of the mountain, looking up, it's very big, much bigger than you or I, your brain starts to say it's impossible.
You feel sadness because of how much you'd love to see the view from the top, and get those photographs.
But the reality is, it's only your mind which is stopping you from getting to the top of the mountain, because the truth, the actual reality is that the journey to the top would begin with one step.
It's a metaphor, for anything you'd like to achieve in your life, no matter how impossible it may seem at the time.
"Whatever it is that you want to do, begin."
