why we say Guinea pig as the experiment subject? Does this saying have some negative meaning?

Usually experiments are carried out on guinea pigs - i.e for medical research, cosmetic research. So if you hear the expression 'you are a guinea pig' it can mean that you are being used as a trial for an idea.
