Pronouncing words that contain the combinations "rn", "rt", "rs", and "rd" can be really tricky. Basically you have to curl your tongue back and put the bottom of your tongue on the roof of your mouth. You are almost tasting your own tongue. The you say a "t", "d", "s" or "n" with your tongue in these positions. Listen to Swedes when they say words like "bort", "bord", and "barn" and "färs". Don't for words like "fortsätta" (which combines the "rt" and "rs" sound) as well as "barnslig" (which combines the "rn" and "rs" sound). Check out "Speak Swedish Stupid" on Youtube or at the website for more detailed information on the pronunciation of other swedish letters. Lycka till!

In most dialects of Swedish (except the most southern ones) R and L uses the same tongue position (just behind the teeth). It's just that R is said very quickly. When you say "L" try sounding like a car or like you are shooting an automatic gun. Air should pass between your tounge and the top of your mouth so that it vibrates.
