What does "chunky soup" mean?
Is that a kind of soup that contains small, thick pieces of contents?

It certainly seems so. Chunky soup must mean a soup with large chunks of food stuff (Maybe vegetables, bread crumbs or meat or some other ingredient). I stand ready for correction, however.

Yes, you are correct. This is usually a thick soup that has numerous thick pieces of other materials in it. These could be pieces of meat or vegetables.
Usually eaten during the winter.
