Notice the usage of modals in the following sentence : *I pay my taxes. General declaration of fact. Paying taxes is something I normally do. *I should pay my taxes. Expresses mild obligation. It is required, and I expect to comply. *I could pay my taxes. Expresses possibility. If I have nothing else to do with the money, I might pay taxes. *I would pay my taxes. (In this case), expresses reservation. If I had the money (but I don't). . . I would give you examples if I could but I'm unsure if I should. ***Could states an option or a suggestion . ***Should states advice, a stronger suggestion . *** Would states certain, probable or possible

I would go to the beach, if it weren't so late." Por ejemplo: "Could I have a glass of water, please?" Por ejemplo: "I couldn't find my pants, so I left without them." Por ejemplo: "I should take a nap, I'm really tired." = "Debería echarme una siesta, estoy muy cansado." Espero que lo haya aclarado un poco! :)
