What is the proper response when someone say "have a good day" as a greeting?

If the person is saying, "Have a good day!" as the end of the conversation, it is polite to say, "Thanks, you too!" This shows that you hope they have a good day as well.

If you aren't having a good day, you twist you mouth slightly in a disgusted expression and say, "Yeah ... right." (It is important to stress the "r" and the "t" in "right".)
