Which one is correct and natural? (The taxi fare is much higher than I was told it was...) He must have taken a longer way(route). He must have taken a detour. He must have taken a longer way(route) around. He must have taken a roundabout way(route).

If by correct and natural you mean most likely to be said, then I would think "He must have taken a detour" is most likely to be said. But a 'detour' sounds more like it was done intentionally, so the fare is higher. And 'He must have taken a longer way' sounds more like the taxi driver just took a longer way by chance. I hope I did not confuse you more!
