None. According to Essential Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy, "None is an answer for How much/How many?" But sometimes, I come across with such an answer as "Nothing" for "How much?". Is that rule strict(if we say about grammar rules)?

It depends on the question: 1. How many apples have you bought? - None. How much time have we got? - None. 2. How much does it cost? - Nothing.
