When use 您 in spoken language? Basically it is know that 您 is polite and 你 is more familiar. But in coursebooks I often see situations like that: for greeting use 您好 but in further conversation people switch to 你. A friend of mine who learned in China for a long time and her Chinese far more superior than mine said that it's better to use 你 in spoken language and people can even be offended if 您 used in addressing them. And in written language 您 for addressing older or respected or unknown person is obligatory. In written language situation is somewhat clear, but how do I use 您/你 in everyday conversation?

I meet people who refuse to stop calling me 您 no matter how much I protest. Even with friends (typically female friends - male friends aren't such sticklers for 'respect'). Even with people older than I. It is clearly a respect convention, and may be acknowledging age or position. Use 您 with aging/aged or high position. If in doubt, use it and observe the reaction. Drop it when you feel you can or should.

您 compare with 你,您show more your respect, and offical than 你,so people in china use 您 when they talk to the people older than them /when u write a letter to your teacher / u can use 您 in anytime u want to show your respect 。

I only use 您 when talking to seniors. Anyone who works in service industry can also use 您 when talking to clients.
