"Smarty Pants" meaning ?
If someone called me "Smarty pants" then that person is referring me a smart person .
I would like to know what relation does it has with the pants I am wearing ?
It may sound a silly question but I would request you to throw some light on it .
Like from where this phrase come and why it is used ?
Can we say it to someone elder or respectable person too ?
Like can we say this to our teacher ?

At best, "smarty pants" has a teasing element to it, so it is certainly not a compliment to teachers or older people! It actually means something more like "so you think you're smart", and shouldn't be read literally.
Do a bit of googling and you'll find the term has been always used negatively.
