You can, but it's somewhat uncommon. What is the complete sentence? Are you referring to something genetically inherited, or do you perhaps mean "inheritance" instead of "heredity"?

I agree with Susan. "Inheritance" is a much more natural word.

Yes, you could. The adjective 'rich' would add emphasise to the meaning of 'heredity'. It would be used to describe heredity features that are strong.
