At four o’clock Mr Hutchinson still had some ____ to do in the garden.
A. job
B. work
C. task
Note: Is B the only choice here because it is the only non-countable noun? I question is: if A and C were plural, would they be acceptable answers?

All would be grammatically correct if they were all plural. But, work is commonly used, and tasks rarely used. You'll almost never hear anyone say 'he had some jobs to do in the garden' unless they were talking about paid work.
In this situation, work is the answer because it's the only plural.
