Difference between 기(를) 바라다 and 았/었/였 으면 좋겠다
I know that both
기(를) 바라다 and 았/었/였 으면 좋겠다 can both be used with the meaning of "to hope / wish" for ~ and that 았/었/였으면 좋겠다 is usually used in the past tense but is there any major difference in usage or are they interchangable?
Different in usage.:)
"-기를 바라다" is often used in formal speech, but "-(으면) 좋겠다" is for casual talk. The past form, "-았/었/였 으면 좋겠다" sounds more personal and desperate.:)
