kanji: used and unused pronunciations
Studying kanji sometimes I find kanji with many pronunciations but some of these seem to be not used in any words.
An example:
稿
from some online dictionaries I have found:
kun: したがき、 わら
on: コウ
but checking the words I can see that only コウ is used.
What are used the other pronunciations for?
Is it useful to learn them?

Thank you in advance

I think you already know くんよみ and おんよみ.
According to my dictionary, this kanji is read コウ(おんよみ) and わら(くんよみ). Generally, the way of おんよみ is used with other kanji, for example, 原稿[げんこう](manuscript), 投稿[トウコウ](contribution), etc. So, おんよみ is also important to learn more Japanese words.
I hope this was helpful.
