It means "also" or "in addition to". You will often find the expression "as well as", which has the same meaning. Here are some examples: - Applicants need international experience as well. - He left all his books there, as well as his backpack. - As well, you must tell him about the mistake.

I can speak English and I can speak Chinese too. I can speak English and I can speak Chinese as well. I can speak English, as well as Chinese. "as well as" can mean "as good as", so the sentence above has two meanings. If you remove the comma, it means: My spoken Chinese is as good as my spoken English. (actually, the second sentence can mean this too, but we will assume it means "too" in most cases). Other examples of "as well as" meaning " as good as": He did it as well as he could. I have treated you as well as you have treated me.
