How does Vietnamese đ sound differ from English d sound? I am not sure what is difference between Vietnamese đ and English d sound. Can Vietnamese people understand if I pronounce đ as like English d sound?

"đ"를 바름이 외국 사람에게 넘 어렵네요. 만약에 박은 "đ"를 정확하게 발음하지 않으시면 아무도 이해 못될 것 같아요. 그렇지만 상황에 따라 쉽게 판단 할 수있어요.그러니까 너무 걱정하지 말아요

I speak Southern accent: d - it's pronounced exactly like the "y" in "yellow", "yin", "yang", "yes"... đ - it's the English "d" in "desk", "dish", "day"... In Northern accent, đ is pronounced similarly, but d is pronounced as "z" in "zoo", "zoom", "zebra" Hope this helps!

Hello Heesob Park, It's totally understandable if you pronounce Vietnamese "đ" as English "d". :) I can say this is official pronunciation of "đ". When "đ" stands alone, it is pronounced the same everywhere. But when it stands in words and sentences, it may sounds different because of different accents (northern, middle, southern). Hope this helps. I hope it is clear to you now.
